Arrested, Promoted and Transferred: Richard Taylor Heads Back East!
Within the span of one month, July, 1864, Richard Taylor was arrested, promoted and then ordered East to assist General John Bell Hood in Georgia. However, leading an army across the mighty Mississippi River patrolled by Union gunboats was undeed a daunting task.
Richard H Holloway is currently a park ranger with Louisiana State Parks. He also writes for and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of "America's Civil War" magazine. He has served as the president of the Civil War Round Table of Central Louisiana since 2008. His most interesting job was giving tours of sites pertaining to the American Civil War while living in Liverpool, England.
